Anything left over at the end of service, even things like unopened sandwiches, must be throw away. I rountinely throw away entire trays of potatoes & meat - Granted, they can't really be saved, but then they shouldn't be ordered in the first place.

It's just the large number of petty complaints from staff that makes it such a mess.Graemehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17415808006177610696noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-589144729472463179.post-77828475512476419602007-07-01T05:28:00.000-04:002007-07-01T05:28:00.000-04:00Cooking en masse, huh? I salute thee.

I'd take the hard plastic railing any day! Our hospital is mostly open-air. That means at night, rats, cockroaches, and mosquitoes abound. I didn't mention it here because the hospital is government-subsidiz(s)ed and there's nothing we can do about it.

Still laughing at the caterers or cleaners question. Duh! Do people really expect the caterers to be wiping down wall grime?!

p.s. My first choice, if I had unlimited sums of money, was to practic(s)e in the UK. Is the NHS really in a sorry state?Manggyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05977929776424593762noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-589144729472463179.post-16884546495654524642007-06-30T18:17:00.000-04:002007-06-30T18:17:00.000-04:00Hospitals, Mark eh? My mum also works there and after her horror stories about the shambolic mess that the NHS (National Health Service) is in, I expected bad, but my God.

I work in the kitchen, preparing salads and re-heating food (We have to reheat cooked omelettes, for 20 minutes...Rubber frisbee.) I have to do breakfast, coffee and lunch for up to 25 patients, all by myself, so I was furious when she brought home the "general complaints" list made by staff at the monthly meeting, two of which read:

"Who's job is it to clean the wall outside the kitchen - Caterers or cleaners?" - How trivial!?

"Baked potatoes seem to be getting smaller, please speak to Catering staff" - What can we do?

There, I needed that...And hey, at least your's gets a coloured border, we get a hard plastic railing. Very soothing, lol.Graemehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17415808006177610696noreply@blogger.com
